How does the Prize pool work?
For an extra $5, you can join the prize pool when you sign up for a team. At season's end the owner whose team has the highest KF Average (adjusted for league competitiveness) gets 75% of the prize pool. The second place owner gets 25%. The prize pool is guaranteed to be at least $1000.
What the hell does "adjusted for league competitiveness" mean?
The adjustment works like this: we add or subtract the difference between the average weekly score of a team's league and the average weekly score of all the teams in the entire KFBA. If, for example, your team is in a league where the average weekly score is 195 and the KFBA average is 192, your team gets an additional three points.
Me get team now. How?
To acquire a team you will first have to register a user name. You can then click on "Buy Franchise" on the top menu bar and select from available teams.
Why do teams have different yearly fees?
The fee is based on the year the league was founded. Teams established earlier are cheaper. There are two reasons behind this: One is that we want to provide an incentive for older teams to be kept; the second is that we want to reward those who have stuck with us from the beginning.
Draft
How does it work?
The first 14 rounds take place over seven days. Picks are staggered, one every twenty minutes from 11:00 AM to 9:20 PM Eastern Standard Time each day.
My God! I have to sit in front of my computer for ten hours a day?
No. Unless trades are consummated, each team will have two picks each day. You will know well in advance when your picks will take place, and once the draft time is set, you can prepare for them at any point before they happen.
What about the last two rounds?
The 15th and 16th rounds take place after the third and sixth weeks of the season, respectively. The order of picks in each round is determined by team record at the time the round commences. The team with the worst record picks first; the team with the best record picks last. The delayed drafting of the last two rounds is designed to help teams that get off to rocky starts.
What is SmartDraft?
SmartDraft ensures balanced rosters for owners who do not participate in their league drafts by selecting players in positions of need.
Roster
How many players do I get?
Sixteen, but that number includes upcoming draft picks. After the initial draft, teams will have 14 players and a 15th and 16th round selection, unless they have traded players for in-season picks, or in-season picks for players. Confused? Don't be. The sum of players and upcoming draft picks must always equal 16.
Is there an Injured Reserve?
No. If a player gets injured, the player you have ranked below him will be automatically subbed into your lineup.
How do I set my roster?
Rank all of your centers, forwards, and guards. Your three highest-ranked guards and forwards, and your two highest-ranked centers that qualify will count towards your team's score for the week.
What do you mean by "qualify"?
A player must play a minimum number of NBA minutes during the week to qualify. If one of your highest-ranked players does not qualify, the next highest-ranked player will automatically take his place.
What if fewer than eight players qualify?
The guy (or guys) who played the most minutes will be automatically subbed into your lineup.
Waiver Wire
How does it work?
In order to claim a player off waivers, you must first cut one of your players to open a roster spot. You may not spend an upcoming draft choice for this purpose.
Once you lay claim to a player, other teams have two days to lay a claim to him as well. If multiple teams claim a player by the time the two day period is over, the team with the best "waiver ranking" will get him.
How is "waiver ranking" determined?
Waiver rankings are determined by date of last successful claim and, for teams that have made no claims, overall record. For example:
Rank 1 - West Virginia Spittoons (No Claim): 4-4, 188 ppg
Rank 2 - Baltimore Brocheese (No Claim): 8-0, 210 ppg
Rank 3 - Brooklyn Brewers, Last Claim: November 29, 2004
Rank 4 - New York Schottsies, Last Claim: December 7, 2004
Who is on the waiver wire?
Between the start of the regular season and the end of the draft's 16th round, all undrafted players with more than four years of NBA experience (called "free agents") can be picked up via the waiver wire. After the draft ends, free agents are joined on the wire by all "restricted free agents"--undrafted players with four or fewer years of NBA experience.
Trades
How do they work?
Each trade is subject to a short waiting period*, during which league owners can review the deal and, if they find it unfair, ask the Colonel to veto it. The Colonel will only veto trades that are decidedly lopsided and thus ruin the competitive balance of the league. Keep in mind that all leagues are keeper leagues. Thus, owners of weaker teams may feel compelled to trade proven stars for potential ones. Consider the keeper resign rounds of players, and the records of teams, involved in trades before emailing the Colonel. Kevin Garnett for Primoz Brezec may not be as lopsided as it looks. If the trade is not vetoed within the waiting period, it will go through.
*The following chart illustrates the waiting periods for all trades. Please note that you must complete a trade by Wednesday at noon if you want it to affect your team's lineup for its next game.

Keepers
How do I keep a player?
You may keep a player by forfeiting a pick that is two rounds higher than the pick you used to draft or keep him in the previous season. Thus, first and second round selections cannot be kept. A player's keeper resign round is indicated by the number in parenthesis next to his name.
How can I keep two players in the same round?
The best way is to trade for an extra draft pick in your keeper's resign round. Barring that, you can always use a pick that is three rounds higher than the pick you used to draft or keep the player in the previous season.
Can I keep a player acquired off of waivers?
Yes. An undrafted player acquired off the waiver wire can be kept with a 10th round pick. If a drafted player is released and then acquired off the wire, he retains his original keeper resign round, as long as he was picked between the 3rd and 12th rounds. If he was picked later than the 12th round, he may be kept with a 10th round pick.

What's up with the scoring?
Scoring is based on per minute production of players. It's meant to normalize the productivity between guys who play 40 minutes a game and those who only get 25. The good news is that it works and you can trust it. If your players do well, your team score will reflect it.
Why did you steal your name from a fast food restaurant?
Actually, we stole our name from a movie that stole its name from a fast food restaurant. But the movie has faded from the collective pop-culture conscience and the fast food restaurant has dropped the name in question, so finders keepers. Besides, we prefer the term "appropriated."
