Regarding an article the colonel posted above about Mike Miller, who it turns out is from this little town near the South Dakota/Minnesota border.  It reminded me of a road trip we were on when I was a kid and we stopped at this place--you could say it was my first hallucinagenic experience, this building all decked out with a corn mural.  Yes, it's real, and it's huge.

My only question is, why do the squirrels and pigeons wait till after the festival to attack the Corn Palace and devour its murals?  Based on their devotion to their shrine, I'd say armed citizens stand vigilant throughout the days and nights, protecting their holy house...
